Assessment Criteria
Part (a) 10 marks
Many candidates answered this question, but sadly most did not properly explain a poverty cycle using economic terminology. Many produced a response discussing issues surrounding poverty without explaining the key components of a poverty cycle. Most responses did not provide a diagram to illustrate the cycle. Few mentioned the concept of economic growth and very few could explain why the poverty cycle could act as a barrier to economic growth. It would be helpful if candidates were to respond to the question asked, rather than just explain the problem of poverty.
