Student EE booklets

Examples of Extended Essay Booklets from other schools

One of the responsibilities of the school and the supervisor is to ensure that students have enough information to understand what an Extended Essay is, how to go about researching and writing one and how they are assessed. Student should be given a copy of the relevant parts of the IB Extended Essay Guide and also have access to examples of past Extended Essays. Some schools have prepared their own booklets containing all this information together with deadline dates, forms to complete etc. Although this requires some work it can be a very efficient way of disseminating the information and is a handy reference for both students and their supervisors.

One of the best that I have seen is the Extended Essay Support Booklet  compiled by Isaac Quist at Wesley College in Melbourne Australia . Isaac is happy for others to see this but has requested that if any use is made of it then Wesley School should be acknowledged in the proper way. However please note that this is currently for the old Extended Essay programme so you would need to update any parts you use. If you search the Internet for EE Hanbooks or Support Booklets etc. you will find examples that have been produced by other schools but many of them are for past programmes. Handbooks that written specifically for the new EE programme (from May 2018 onwards) include The Extended Essay Student (and Teacher) Handbook from Ikast-Brande Gymnasium in Denmark and Extended Essay Handbook from Gateway International School in Chennai..
